Tooth-Colored Fillings
At Covington Family Dentistry, we provide tooth-colored fillings rather than silver amalgam fillings. Not only are silver fillings much more noticeable in your smile, but they also are more damaging to the strength and original structure of the tooth. Tooth-colored fillings are created with a porcelain composite material that is custom-colored to match the shade of your tooth. These fillings help to better preserve the tooth, and the best part is no one will be able to see them!
Same-Day Crowns
For your convenience, we provide CEREC same-day crowns! These crowns utilize CAD/CAM technology, meaning they are computer-designed and generated to allow us to create a custom crown in just one visit. These crowns will blend in perfectly with your smile and will feel comfortable.
A crown is a cap-like structure placed on top of the tooth to restore its function and appearance. We use crowns after removing a larger cavity or when the tooth has suffered breakage. Crowns are also used to restore a dental implant.
Bridges
A bridge is a device that is used to replace a missing tooth. Two crowns are placed on the teeth surrounding the gap, and these crowns are connected to an abutment tooth placed inside the gap. Because this device is cemented onto the teeth, it is not removable, unlike a partial denture.
Dentures & Partial Dentures
Dentures and partials are great options for replacing missing teeth if you are looking for a removable solution. No matter if you are replacing all of your teeth or just one, we will take accurate measurements of your mouth, face and jaw to ensure your dentures fit comfortably in your mouth and that they allow you to chew and speak properly.
Root Canals
When an infection or cavity has reached the root of the tooth, we will perform a root canal. This procedure involves removing all of the decayed or diseased pulp from both the tooth and the root. After thoroughly disinfecting the tooth to ensure its health, we will restore the tooth with one of our same-day CEREC crowns.
Extractions
If a tooth is causing overcrowding, is broken beyond repair or is severely decayed or infected, it will need to be extracted. During an extraction, we will remove both the tooth and the root. After the procedure, we will discuss options for tooth replacement. Leaving a gap in the tooth can result in gum disease, teeth shifting, and jawbone deterioration, as well as impaired speaking and chewing functions. Plus, it affects the aesthetics of your smile. Options for replacement include a partial denture, bridge, or dental implant.
Dental Implants
Dr. Wilson is proud to provide affordable dental implants for her patients. A dental implant is a long-lasting solution to a missing tooth. The implant is a titanium post, which is inserted into the gum to act as the root of the tooth. After implant placement, we must wait a few months, during which the post will fuse to the jawbone. This creates a sturdy base for the restoration. We restore the implant using a crown. We offer same-day CEREC crowns for your convenience. Your dental implant will look like and function as a real tooth, and will improve your confidence in your smile!
